The American Baseball Pyramid
Baseball is one of the oldest and most historic sports in America. With roots dating back to the 1800s, many clubs boast more than 100 years of history.
The professional game is organized as a formal pyramid with 30 Major League Baseball teams at the top, each owning a network of minor league affiliates used to develop future talent. In total, the MLB and MiLB umbrella covers over 100 clubs, plus several independent leagues that operate outside this ecosystem.
