The Professional American Football Landscape
The National Football League is the highest level of gridiron football within the United States. Beginning each season in August, the NFL plays through the fall and concludes each winter with the Super Bowl. Its thirty-two teams are organized into two conferences: the NFC and the AFC. These conferences are then regionalized into divisions of four teams each.

The United Football League is second highest level of comepetition within the United States. The United Football League began play in 2024 and operates as a spring league. It is a result of a merger between the XFL and the USFL. These teams are organized into two conferences of four teams each.
